2015 Villa Toscano Sangiovese
A native to Tuscany, Sangiovese is the key component in central Italian wines, including of course, Chianti. The grape was originally brought into North and South America by Italian immigrants, and later found its way into the Amador County region during the Gold Rush era. Unfortunately the varietal was not very successful until the rise of the Super Tuscans around the 1980s, sparking new interest in the grape.
Our latest 2015 Villa Toscano Sangiovese is a beautiful ruby-hued wine with fragrant aromas of cherry, cranberry and dried herbs. Flavors of rich cherry, plum, and subtle tomato, join with light herbal accents, to give this wine its balanced smooth mouthfeel. This Sangiovese pairs perfectly with Tuscan cuisine, as well as rich roasted meats, cured sausages, and hard cheeses.
