Barbera is a red wine grape that originated in the hills of Central Italy around the 13th Century. Italian immigrants then brought the varietal to North and South America in the 19th Century, where it was planted in California and Argentina, among other places. Barbera is known for its deep color, low tannins and high levels of acid.
Our 2015 Villa Toscano Barbera is a rich, dark hued wine with an aromatic bouquet of vanilla, nutmeg, and hints of violet and lavender. Deep flavors of dark cherry and plum greet the palate with the natural acidic tones, and finishing off with soft round tannins. The 2015 Villa Toscano Barbera can be laid down for 2-4 years.
